Cyberattacks against hospitals show little sign of letting up in 2020, underlining the urgent need for IT leaders to be prepared. In that spirit, Interbit Data will hold a webinar titled “From Attack to Recovery: Your Cybersecurity Battle Plan” on Thursday, Dec. 3.

It’s our second webinar on the topic of hospital cyberattacks. It follows a recent alert from the FBI, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services warning of “an increased and imminent cybercrime threat to U.S. hospitals and healthcare providers” from a new strain of ransomware. The most recent wave of cyberattacks crippled hospitals in Michigan, New York, Oregon, Vermont and Wisconsin.

Interbit Data President and CEO Arthur Young will go over what needs to go into a hospital’s disaster response plan and post-attack communications plan to stakeholders including employees, caregiver staff, payers and outside pharmacies.

Young says that systems restoration, while important, should be only part of a hospital’s response plan. He believes that people, policies and procedures ultimately make up the cornerstone of an effective cybersecurity plan and that hospitals need to think carefully about how to continue to provide high-quality patient care while healthcare information systems are down.
Hospital and health system leaders, healthcare IT vendors, industry consultants and analysts, and members of the news media are invited to attend.
