Patient Reports Are Distributed to Multiple Recipients and Locations Automatically, Eliminating Manual Report Distribution Processes That Waste Time and Paper and Delay Transmission of Patient Data to Clinicians Who Need It

Natick, MA – May 19, 2010 – Automating report distribution from the healthcare information system (HCIS) to doctors in multiple locations, Interbit Data’s NetDelivery and the NetDelivery Distribution Wizard have helped St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, IA with getting critical patient data to those who need it within minutes rather than hours. The hospital once used a totally manual report distribution process that involved printing patient reports on paper and sending them by mail or courier to the recipient. Since moving to NetDelivery, the hospital’s staff not only saves time and stops performing this menial daily task; it also eliminates paper waste and expedites delivery of patient care.

“NetDelivery has proven to be an incredible time-saver for report distribution, specifically for the lab but also for pathology, radiology and the medical records department,” stated Dr. Jedd Hagen, a pathologist at St. Anthony Regional Hospital. “The pathology department alone decreased the amount of patient reports it has to print and distribute by 80%; those reports are now sent automatically with NetDelivery.”

St. Anthony Regional Hospital’s pathology department sends patient reports to approximately 50 doctors at 15 different clinics, while its laboratory sends patient reports to this same group plus nursing homes and other doctors outside the hospital — between 80 to 100 doctors altogether. The hospital also sends the doctors any dictation it does for patient history and physicals, operative reports and emergency room visits.

Prior to implementing NetDelivery, St. Anthony Regional Hospital’s lab staff had to spend two hours per day printing, folding, sorting and packaging about 100 lab reports for delivery to different doctors. The pathology department consumed one hour per day to distribute 30-40 reports. That is time those departments now have each day to attend to more important issues. Because of this freed-up time, the hospital was able to absorb the loss of a staff member and not add new personnel, yet still accomplish everything they need to do.

With NetDelivery, St. Anthony Regional Hospital can send patient reports easily to multiple locations at one time, pre-defining by recipient and location how each report is sent.

Patient reports going to a particular doctor are sent automatically — there is no need to tell NetDelivery what to do as the software knows where a report needs to be sent and in what format the recipient prefers to retrieve it.

“NetDelivery is straight-forward, Windows-based and very easy to use,” affirmed Hagen. “NetDelivery has many features and offers several delivery methods, allowing us to do more than just faxing.”

NetDelivery offers 14 report distribution methods, including fax, email, file, or directly to printer, and report distribution in PRN, TIF, TXT or PDF file formats. Remote locations can retrieve the data via the Internet on demand, on schedule or in real-time. All Internet connections are validated and all data is encrypted using 128-bit encryption algorithms, ensuring and improving compliance with HIPAA.

The NetDelivery Distribution Wizard efficiently collates patient reports generated by the HCIS and directs them to the proper recipients based on user-defined rules using data extracted from the reports. Collating reports that are printed in batches saves time spent determining which reports go to each persons. By extracting the recipients and destinations from the reports, organizations increase the accuracy of who receives the report, improve security by not sending reports to the wrong persons, and save staff time and effort ensuring reports were received on time by the right person.

Customers Currently Using NetFax or NetDelivery Will Be Upgraded to Support MEDITECH 6.0 As Needed

Natick, MA – April 14, 2010 – Interbit Data, the leader in software and services for improving healthcare efficiency, today announces that its information and report distribution solutions — NetFax and NetDelivery — work with all the platforms customers are currently running of the MEDITECH healthcare information system, including 6.0.

“Any of our customers who are upgrading to the MEDITECH 6.0 platform need not be concerned with how it will affect their use of our faxing and report distribution products,” said Arthur Young, president of Interbit Data. “Whether a customer is running MEDITECH Magic, MEDITECH Client/Server or MEDITECH 6.0, also known as Focus and MAT, we will help them with upgrading our products if it’s necessary.”

Customers who are MEDITECH Magic sites using NetFax or NetDelivery will need to upgrade to NetFax for C/S and 6.0 or NetDelivery for C/S and 6.0. Customers who are MEDITECH Client/Server sites and still use NetFax or NetDelivery will need to upgrade to NetFax for C/S and 6.0 or NetDelivery for C/S and 6.0.

NetDelivery C/S and 6.0 combines the capabilities of NetDelivery, Distribution Wizard, and Desktop Fax in one product that accurately and securely distributes reports and data from MEDITECH to multiple parties in the recipients’ preferred format. Users can send the data via fax, encrypted print stream, encrypted file or email and define the distribution method by recipient and destination.

NetFax C/S and 6.0 combines the capabilities of NetFax, Distribution Wizard and Desktop Fax into one solution that seamlessly integrates with MEDITECH to direct faxes to defined users. The product can be used instead of fax appliances and expanded as easily as adding multiple modems. Logs are maintained on the server and communicated directly to the MEDITECH audit trail.

With both NetDelivery C/S and 6.0 and NetFax C/S and 6.0, reports are collated and directed to the proper recipients based on user-defined rules using data extracted from the reports. Both products allow unlimited faxing from PC-based applications (C/S demand Fax) and offer support for inbound fax routing using Direct Dial Numbers (DDI, MSN), Caller Identification (CSID) or Line Routing to route incoming faxes directly to a department or user. By allowing documents to be delivered via fax, email and/or secure remote print, both products increase user satisfaction, streamline delivery to both local and remote users and reduce the demand for fax lines.
