Using electronic data distribution saves paper, reduces paper costs and eliminates manual handling of data, which can take hours, pose a risk to data security and patient privacy and increase inaccuracies. With NetDelivery, reports are delivered to physicians’ secure hospital network folders in real-time.

We have had an extremely positive experience with NetFax, the FAXBOX replacement we ordered from Interbit Data. Set up was relatively easy, it runs with little or no monitoring and manual intervention and Interbit Data is quick to respond when we have had an issue or question. I would highly recommend their products and company.

Interbit Data’s NetDelivery Integration Module has allowed Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, Washington, to provide an HL7 feed into their physician’s EMR systems. This simple solution has eliminated any need for custom interface programming from MEDITECH and utilizes standard MEDITECH Laboratory reports. In return, we have eliminated the need to send hardcopy Laboratory reports daily to the offices, eliminated delay of receiving results via normal printing/faxing process and now provide immediate access to valuable Lab data from Good Samaritan Hospital to the physicians. This solution also allows the physicians to be able to view and compare similar results within their own EMR systems for their patients.

NetDelivery with the Distribution Wizard option is our primary investment with Interbit Data. The product efficiently captures lab results as well as departmental reports and then sends them to the provider’s EMR systems as PDF Files. This has become an invaluable tool for Cape Cod Healthcare. In the rare occasion that we are faced with a technical problem, Interbit Data is always readily available for technical support and efficiently resolves the issue.

We use NetDelivery to automate housekeeping notification and speed up our turnaround time on patient room availability, hence increasing revenue. When a nurse discharges a patient, a message is sent to the NetDelivery server, which then transfers the message via FTP to a file folder. That folder is watched by a scripting program that automatically sends a text page to the correct housekeeper when the message is received. We have 8 different pagers, based on room assignments. This whole process takes less than 45 seconds from discharge to page.
We also use NetDelivery for notifying Pharmacy personnel about potential errors, decreasing the amount of time between mistakes and changes in the Pharmacy and increasing the efficiency in our Pharmacy. If a drug has been ordered or entered in error, instead of calling the pharmacy, we have them “print” a copy of the drug order along with a 25 character explanation of the mistake out of MEDITECH to a spool file. This spool file is then transferred via FTP to the same server that is watched by the scripting program and automatically e-mailed to the pharmacists for backup. The message is also added to a helpdesk task manager database. Before, a particular pharmacist or technician had to answer the phone, write down the change, and get it made. Now, any of the Pharmacy personnel can pick the changes off the helpdesk task manager and accurately fill the prescription.

If anyone is looking for a nice downtime tool, I recommend NetSafe from Interbit Data. We have been using it for a few years now but had a good test of it recently. We had scheduled 4-8 hours of downtime for Data Center maintenance and it ended up being close to 14 hours. With no network available, we had the lab cumulative summaries, nursing patient profiles, census reports, doctor's rounds reports, surgery preference cards, unit number listing to pull paper charts, a downtime paper charting form, eMAR information, dietary information, labels for each current inpatient, etc all available within NetSafe to view and/or print. It worked well, did what we asked it to do and the folks at Interbit Data have been great helping us get everything set up. Uptime is so critical with all the clinical information that is being documented and this was a big help during the downtime.

Once we did the demo on NetSafe, we saw there were several uses for it during downtime, including maintaining medication administration. The software works like a charm and will print medication records during downtime without worry. As the primary nurse informatics specialist, it helps me sleep at night knowing that patients won’t miss their meds.

NetDelivery gives us the ability to push data through the Internet on-demand and deliver it faster and more reliably. It’s simple and straightforward to use, and because Interbit Data is familiar with MEDITECH, they offered instructions for setting up the software that made the implementation very easy.

NetDelivery has many features, allowing us to do more than just faxing. It offers other delivery methods such as the NetDelivery client, which stores reports on a server at the hospital and allows people to retrieve reports through the Internet.

NetSafe is a key component of our disaster recovery – business continuity plan. We are on the verge of going live with a re-implementation of NUR. We will be nearly paperless within a couple of months, so our clinical analysts have been setting up a whole process for making sure that we’ll have any critical patient data available in the event of a MEDITCH outage. We’ve had the MARs sent to a PC in the Pharmacy for quite a while now.

NetDelivery uses less paper because reports are sent directly from the MEDITECH system, eliminating wasteful headers or footers. We have received comments from our customers that they like the report format. We also get fewer calls because NetDelivery is not a complicated system. We spend very little time maintaining the system and can handle supports calls from users without turning to the vendor. That definitely saves us time.
